Georgia-08V is a High-Yielding, High-Oleic, TSWR Resistant, Large-Seeded, Virginia-Type Variety |
||
GEORGIA-08V is a new high-yielding, high-oleic, TSWV-resistant, large-seeded, virginia-type peanut variety that was released in 2008 by the Georgia Agricultural Experiment Stations. It was developed at the University of Georgia’s Coastal Plain Experiment Station in Tifton GA. Georgia-08V has a high-oleic and low linoleic fatty acid ratio for improved oil quality and longer shelf-life of inshell virginia-type peanuts. During the past four years (2004-07) in over 38 multilocation tests in Georgia, Georgia-08V averaged the lowest percent TSWV disease incidence, highest pod yield, highest TSMK grade, largest seed size, and highest dollar value return per acre compared to Gregory, Perry, and NC-V 11 |
During 2008, Georgia-08V also exhibited the best overall performance versus CHAMPS, Perry, Gregory, and NC-V 11. Georgia-08V combines high-yield, high-TSWV resistance, and the high-oleic trait with medium maturity in a large-seeded, virginia-type peanut variety.
